How it Works

I running the Lakefront Marathon on October 2nd, 2011 in Milwaukee.
I am running in memory of my late Great Uncle (and Lakota Grandfather) Earl J. Kurth, S.J. For more information about Earl and his inspiration link here http://saynotonewports.blogspot.com/2011/02/backstory.html

I commit to run 26.2 miles.
Friends, Family, Acquaintances, and maybe even Complete Strangers pledge their commitment to make a charitable contribution to one or more of the organizations below.

It is typical to pledge either a flat dollar amount (eg. $25, $50, $100, etc.) or to pledge per mile ran (i.e. $1 per mile = $26.20, $2 per mile =  $52.40, etc.)

The Organizations:

1.  Red Cloud Indian School-- the love of Earl's life, and a place I love.  It has has become a beacon of academic hope on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, one of the poorest areas in the nation with a per capita income of less than $6300 a year. http://www.redcloudschool.org/

2.  The Milwaukee Alano Club-- I sit on the Board of Directors of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  It has been an asset to the Milwaukee community, providing services for alcoholic and addiction recovery for more than 65 years. http://milwaukeealanoclub.org/

3.  Pathfinders Milwaukee-- A multi-faceted organization serving Milwaukee youth aged 11 through their early twenties.  They operate a youth shelter, a drop-in center with a clothing bank, laundry facilities, offer crisis counseling services and case management.  Volunteering at this organization has been a bright spot in my life. http://www.pathfindersmke.org/

You can commit to pledging by contacting me directly or e-mailing
earljkurthmemorialrun@gmail.com

Please include pledge amount and designate your organization(s).

You've got until October to scrape up some dollars... While I've got 7 months of physical training ahead.

until next time.
